JULIANA CELEBRATES 100 YEARS!
It’s been 100 years since the miner and botanist Albert Bois de Chesne (1871–1953), who was also a timber merchant, bought the estate in Trenta and established an alpine botanical garden, which he probably named after his late wife Juliana – or perhaps after the mighty Julian Alps. Thanks to the efforts of dedicated Slovenian naturalists, the garden has been preserved for future generations and has operated within the framework of the Slovenian Museum of Natural History since 1962.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary, we have prepared a varied programme, which will include:
–
an exhibition at the Natural History Museum of Slovenia,
–
a varied programme of guided tours in Juliana,
–
a new guidebook about the garden,
–
the main celebration of the 100th anniversary, which will take place in Trenta in collaboration with the Triglav National Park, and much more.
All the accompanying events will be announced soon on our website, and for the series of posts
